Purpose— Integrating terror management theory and social cognitive theory, the present study examines the impact of self-efficacy, social support, medical coping modes, and resilience on death anxiety.
Study Design/methodology/approach—Three hundred and eighty-six individuals working in different healthcare sector organizations participated in the survey process for the collection of data, using a simple random sampling technique through a self-administered questionnaire.
Findings— The results of this study revealed that self-efficacy, social support, medical coping modes, and resilience negatively impacted the death anxiety of the individuals working in healthcare sector organizations.
Practical Implications— This highlights the importance of self-efficacy, social support, medical coping modes, and resilience to minimize the death anxiety of the employees, as they feel this situation due to high work pressure and the healthcare working environment.
Originality/Value—The present study contributes to motivational psychology and organizational behavior by explaining the importance of self-efficacy, which strengthens individuals against death anxiety; in parallel, a higher level of social support also enables individuals to deal with a toxic work environment; moreover, medical coping modes help employees working in healthcare organizations to rebuild their energy, and a higher level of resilience also becomes vital in the situation of death anxiety.
